Hecuba

Hecuba

Hecuba is pretty well clipped in with the L.A. art/pop/space/macabre scen, many took notice when they toured with Devendra Banhart and friends, especially when Devandra dubbed them "the best band in L.A.". Hecuba (Isabelle Albuquerque and Jon Beasley) make glorious sci-fi inspired, Greek tragedy electronic love songs with a feel totally individual from the rest of the fast growing Los Angeles Manimal Vinyl family (which includes VOICEsVOICEs, Warpaint and Rainbow Arabia). Hecuba’s debut album “Paradise” received critical acclaim from music publications, such as NME, Uncut and Dazed & Confused. Their second full-length album "Modern" was recorded over several months in a studio they set up outside Los Angeles. During
the creation of "Modern", the album began to mirror the emotional territories Hecuba were experiencing as they blurred the boundaries between themselves. It became about devotion, commitment, sacrifice, loss and separation. In essence, "Modern" is a record of two people becoming one. It is a record of love and a record of hurt that talks about the line between losing yourself in another and losing yourself completely.
